Rs.10 Mn has been provided for in the 2017 Budget to grant financial assistance to uplift small scale food Industries in the country, which programme is based on the successful experience gained from the Pilot project conducted last year in the Western Province by the Technical Services Division, Industrial Development Board of Ceylon (IDB). The main objective of this program is to improve the productivity and quality of products of Small Scale Food Industries in Sri Lanka.
Paper advertisements highlighting this programme were published in the Daily News, Lankadeepa and Thinakaran on 2nd February 2017. After evaluation of the relevant documents by the Selection Committee, Fifty (50) Small Scale Food Industries have been selected to participate in this project during this year.
Accordingly, the event of Signing Agreements was organised by the Technical Services Division, IDB at the Auditorium, Ministry of Industry & Commerce on 02nd of May 2017.
The selected beneficiaries signed the agreements with the IDB confirming their ability to complete the process on or before 30th August 2017.
To grace this noble occasion, Hon. Rishad Bathiudeen M.P. Minister of Ministry of Industry & Commerce participated as the Chief Guest. Hon. Champika Premadasa M.P. State Minister of Industry & Commerce, Mr. Chintaka S. Lokuhetti, the Secretary, Ministry of Industry & Commerce, Ms. Sandhaya Wijebandara, Secretary – State Ministry of Industry & Commerce, Mr. Mahinda Jinasena, Chairman, IDB, Mr. P.L. U. Rathnamalala, Director General, IDB, Mr. Roy Jayasinghe, Advisor to Hon. Minister, Mr. V.S. Dickwella, Consultant to Hon. State Minister, Mr. M.A.M. Anfas, Coordinator, Ministry Officials, Directors, Deputy Directors of the District offices IDB participated for this event.
