Industrial Development Board in collaboration with Accelerating Industries’ Climate response Sri Lanka project will organize this 2-days User Training Workshop, which, is designed for management and technically inclined individuals who are involved with or looking to implement ISO 50001 aligned Energy Management Systems in their industries. It gives a foundational understanding of energy management, its implementation, and the substantial benefits it offers in terms of energy and cost savings, along with improved business processes.

Resource Persons

This training will be led by both international trainers & national trainers and this comprehensive program will cover essential aspects of energy management.

Learning Objectives

By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:

• Gain awareness and understanding of the various components and requirements of an EnMS.
• Develop the skills to build a compelling business case for implementing an EnMS.
• Comprehend the importance of energy metrics in effective energy management.
• Learn strategies to reduce energy consumption, cost, and GHG emissions.
• Understand the crucial role of energy efficiency within an EnMS framework.
• Appreciate the benefits of a systematic approach to energy management.
• Analyze the current energy consumption and cost trends relevant to their organization.
• Clearly define what Energy Management is and its scope.
• Identify what can be achieved through a robust EnMS.
• Understand how the EnMS works in practice.
• Determine the next steps for implementing and improving their energy management efforts.

Who can apply for this course

For Industry representatives

• Target industries: pharmaceutical and herbal , Metal (rolling, fabrication, metal finishing etc.); food and beverages; rubber (tyres, gloves etc.); textile and apparel; mining (tiles, porcelain, roofing tiles, cement etc.); consumer products; paper and printing; chemicals and paints; polymer (packaging, plastic goods, PVC etc.);
• Manufacturing industries using Electrical Energy as an energy source. Specifically compressed air systems in use;
• Maximum 3 participants per company (engineering/ science background are highly encouraged);
• The participants should have computer software literacy including Microsoft Excel proficiency; General English proficiency;
• Willingness to commit to the training.

For individuals:

• Energy efficiency practitioners, energy efficiency service providers, ESCo representatives, academia and consultants are eligible;
• Graduate of a Higher Educational Institution in Engineering or Science (NVQ level 7) (preferably Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering);
• Minimum 5 years of experience in relevant industry and at least 2 years in energy auditing/ MEP (mechanical, electrical, and plumbing) designing / compressed air system maintenance / cleaner production assessment;
• General English proficiency;
• Computer software literacy and Microsoft Excel proficiency;
• Willingness to commit to the Training.
