SME Nexus Strategy
SME Nexus – National SME Strategy Framework 2026 is Sri Lanka’s national framework for strengthening and transforming the Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) sector. Launched in May 2026, the framework provides a coordinated approach to improving SME competitiveness, innovation, digital transformation, access to finance, market opportunities and business support services.
Built around five strategic directions, three implementation approaches and 11 strategic pillars, SME Nexus seeks to connect entrepreneurs with government institutions, financial institutions, markets, technology, knowledge and other ecosystem partners. It also promotes integrated service delivery, entrepreneurship development, value-chain integration and policy and regulatory improvements to support sustainable and growth-oriented enterprises.

Food Analytical Testing Laboratory
Internationally Recognised Food Testing Services
The Industrial Development Board (IDB) Food Analytical Testing Laboratory, located at the IDB Head Office, Katubedda, provides professional and affordable food product testing services to support product quality and safety.
The laboratory is accredited to ISO/IEC 17025:2017 by the Sri Lanka Accreditation Board (SLAB) and offers testing for bakery products, wheat flour-based snacks, spices, fruit beverages, cordials, squashes and syrups, including key chemical and quality parameters.
In addition, the IDB Food Microbiology Laboratory provides microbiological testing services at affordable rates.

Industrial Feeder Zones
The feeder-zone concept connects IDB estates to BOI zones and wider regional ecosystems through suppliers, engineering, packaging, logistics, finance, skills, digital services and circular-economy infrastructure. The GIS layer makes that relationship visible spatially and supports investment and ecosystem planning.
