Charting Sri Lanka’s New Industrial Transformation Future
The Industrial Development Board (IDB) successfully concluded a strategic brainstorming and planning session led by the Chairman, Yasas Hewage, bringing together the strategic leadership team to redefine the future direction of Sri Lanka’s industrial transformation.
Held at CEWAS, Ratmalana, (8th June) the session provided a collaborative platform for divisions across the organization to present their strategic priorities, future plans, and transformative initiatives aligned with the national industrial agenda.
The discussions emphasized a shift from conventional planning towards strategic execution, with key focus areas including:
🔹 Driving Industry Transformation through productivity, innovation, and technology
🔹 Moving beyond Business Thinking towards Enterprise Thinking and ultimately Industry Thinking
🔹 Transforming traditional SWOT Analysis into SMART strategic action
🔹 Applying the Suitability, Acceptability & Feasibility (SAF) framework to rigorously evaluate ideas, initiatives, and future proposals before implementation
🔹 Promoting engineering-led problem solving, systems thinking, and innovation, inspired by thought-provoking references such as “Think Like an Engineer.”
The programme fostered meaningful dialogue, cross-functional collaboration, and a shared vision for building a more competitive, resilient, and future-ready industrial ecosystem for Sri Lanka.
As IDB celebrates 60 years of service, we continue our commitment to transforming industries, empowering enterprises, and shaping the nation’s economic future.
