On 06 August 2026, the Industrial Development Board of Sri Lanka (IDB) officially opened its Project Management Office (PMO), marking another significant milestone in its institutional transformation journey under the theme “Beyond Development – Towards Transformation.”
The occasion was attended by the Chairman of IDB, Mr. Yasas Hewage, Director General Ms. Ruchira Dambarrage, Heads of Divisions, and members of the PMO team. The event reaffirmed IDB’s collective commitment to strengthening project governance, accountability, efficient implementation, and results-oriented management.
Building a Project-Oriented Institutional Culture
The establishment of the PMO goes beyond creating a new organizational unit. It represents an important step towards building a project-oriented, results-driven, and accountable institutional culture.
Through this new approach, IDB aims to:
- Implement projects based on clearly defined objectives and timelines.
- Manage time as a valuable institutional resource.
- Strengthen accountability for assigned responsibilities.
- Enhance coordination and collaboration across divisions.
- Identify project risks at an early stage and address challenges promptly.
- Ensure the successful completion of projects within the planned timeframe and expected outcomes.
