  • “Industry EXPO 2024” International Industry Exhibition begins at BMICH, Colombo

President Ranil Wickramasinghe says that it is essential to uplift manufacturing industries in the journey towards an export-oriented economy. The President said this while participating in the opening ceremony of “Industry EXPO 2024” International Industry Exhibition.

“Industry EXPO 2024” International Industry Exhibition organized by the Ministry of Industry, Ceylon Industrial Development Board (IDB) in collaboration with other institutions operating under the Ministry, other government institutions and the private sector in order to strengthen local industrialists with the aim of empowering the manufacturing economy Colombo Bandaranaike Exhibitions The hall was opened this morning (19) under the chairmanship of President Ranil Wickramasinghe.

Covering the entire industrial sector of Sri Lanka, this huge exhibition is held by involving micro, small scale, medium scale and large scale industrialists representing all the 25 manufacturing sectors and consists of 1307 exhibition booths. This international exhibition will provide an opportunity to encourage industrialists, introduce new technology for industries, encourage innovation, create market opportunities and bring together hundreds of local and foreign entrepreneurs, suppliers, and buyers. For this Industry EXPO 2024 international exhibition, 38 booths representing 23 countries including Germany, France, Italy, India, Bangladesh, China, Singapore and Malaysia have been presented.

Speaking here, President Ranil Wickramasinghe,
“Within a short period of 2 years, we were able to get out of the bankruptcy that the country had fallen into. But in order to avoid the same situation again, we must create a strong economy in the country. For this, our economy must be competitive. Rapid industrial development is taking place in our neighbor India. As a government, we are providing all the necessary support for the industry, and we have prepared new plans for this as well “We are working to start a development bank, provide necessary financial facilities to industrialists at low interest rates, and establish an economic commission,” he said.

The President further mentioned that since it is important to strengthen the small and medium industrialists, necessary measures will be taken for that.

Speaking here, the Minister of Industry and Health Dr. Ramesh Pathirana,
He said that he is happy to be able to hold the biggest exhibition in Sri Lanka with 1307 booths with the aim of empowering the manufacturing economy.

The launch of the Ceylon Plaza app with the full cooperation of the government, which empowers entrepreneurs and facilitates buyers and sellers, was also done here.

Minister of State for Small and Medium Enterprise Development Prasanna Ranaweera, Minister of State for Primary Industries Chamara Sampath Dasanayake, Secretary of the Ministry of Industry Shantha Weerasinghe, Members of Parliament, Governors, Foreign Ambassadors and High Commissioners, Additional Secretaries of the Ministry of Industry, Chairman of the Ceylon Industrial Development Board Dr. Saranga Alahapperuma were present on this occasion. , government officials, military personnel, entrepreneurs, industrialists and many others participated.
