Wings to a Rich Country Through a New Vision

Marking a new chapter in the history of Sri Lanka’s public institutions, the Industrial Development Board (IDB), a key contributor to the national economy, has undertaken a significant restructuring initiative. This includes the development of a comprehensive institutional framework, preparation of job descriptions for all 600 employees, and the establishment of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for each individual to align with the institution’s long-term goals. This transformative journey officially commenced on 04.04.2025.
To support this national endeavor, the Sri Lanka Chartered Institute of Personnel Management (CIPM), the country’s leading authority in human resource management, is directly collaborating with IDB. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between IDB and CIPM on April 4, symbolizing this vital partnership.
A New Chapter for the IDB
CIPM is playing a key role in this initiative by providing expertise and strategic guidance. Mr. Prasanna Liyanaarachchi, a specialist in human resources, a corporate trainer, and mentor, has extended his generous support and knowledge to facilitate the transformation of the IDB.
A Milestone Handshake
The primary objective of the Industrial Development Board is to strengthen its services for industrialists—particularly small and medium enterprises—by offering a more regulated, smooth, and efficient service experience to its clients.
Present at this special occasion were the Honorable Chairman, Director General, and Board of Directors representing the IDB, as well as representatives from CIPM, including Mr. G. Weeratunga (Director – Professional & Academic Affairs), Mrs. Lasika Liyanarachchi (Manager – Business School Operations), and Mr. Pinsiri (Head of Sustainability and Facility Management).
