“Industry 2023” – National Industry Exhibition – Day 01

It’s time to defeat challenges and improve the industry. – Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena
—————————————- The time has come to develop the industry facing challenges, says Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena. The Prime Minister said “Industry 2023” will attend the opening ceremony of the National Industry Exhibition.
“Industry 2023” National Industry Exhibition organized in collaboration with the Ministry of Industry, Sri Lanka Industrial Development Board, other institutions operating under the ministry of other government institutions and private sector to strengthen local industries aiming to create an export central economy, Colombo Sirimavo Bandaranayake Opened today (22) morning under the patronage of Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena at the exhibition hall.
This massive exhibition features 750 exhibition booths, representing 20 production sectors, connecting micro, small scale, medium scale and large scale industries covering the entire industry in Sri Lanka. This national exhibition will also bring opportunity to inspire industries, introduce new technology for industries, encourage innovation, create market opportunities, merging domestic and foreign entrepreneurs, suppliers, buyers, create a bigger space for new industries. This also gives opportunity to increase young and women entrepreneurship and increase value added products.
Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena commented on the occasion, that it is time to develop the industry sector facing challenges, industrialists should move out of the local markets and face international competition there as a government, ready to provide the security they need to industries as well as industries.
Commenting here, Dr. Ramesh Pathirana, Minister for Industry and Planting Industry, said that despite passing a very crisis period, it was possible to earn the highest export revenue in the history in 2021/2022 and through such incentives, local entrepreneurship could increase target export revenues. Also, the minister added that he is happy to be able to hold such a massive national exhibition that empowers entrepreneurs on a day like today that celebrates National Industry Day.
Mr. Prasanna Ranaveera, Minister of State for Small and Medium Scale Enterprise Development and Minister of State for Primary Industries Chamara Sampath Dasanayake also commented on this occasion.
Implementation of Industry Fund and issuing a souvenir stamp in honor of National Industry Day at the exhibition ground under the patronage of the Prime Minister.
Large group including State Minister Saint Bandara, Parliament MPs, Foreign Ambassadors, Secretary to Ministry of Industries Thilaka Jayasundara, Secretary of Ministry of Planting Industries Janaka Dharmakeerthi, Postman Ruwan Sat Kumara, State officials, entrepreneurs, private sector officials participated in the event.
