Applications are called from innovators in Sri Lanka to share their market ready business innovations at the industry-Expo 2024, International Industry Exhibition organized by the Industrial Development Board in collaboration with Ministry of Industries. This will be scheduled to be held on 19th to 23rd June 2024 at BMICH Colombo.

Eligibility
1. Should be a local innovator.
2. Preferably within the scope of development of new technologies, design & engineering, process/product/design improvements, developing new methods of analysis & testing, efficiency enhancement in use of resources (Machinery, materials & energy), Waste control & recycling etc.
3. Preferably the innovation should be a prototype, model or finished product with an assessment of value addition

Selection Criteria
Innovations will be categorized under following categories.

• Chemicals or Chemicals related
• IT or Digital science
• Mechanics and Engineering
• Food and Food related
• Materials related
• Young Innovators (School Children only)

Primary Selection will be done by an independent panel of Professional judges appointed by the Industrial Development Board. They will use a few assessment methods to verify the information
provided in the application. Only the innovators with the highest marks will be able to participate at the Innovation Arena.

Basically, the following characteristics of innovations will be evaluated in Primary selection.

• Relevant customer benefit
• Relevant differentiation from the competition
• Easiness for the customer to try the product and experience the benefits
• No legal conflicts (laws, norms, patents) or ethical conflicts (values) with product innovation
• Necessary potential for sales and profit
• Having the necessary resources to technically implement and market the product innovation

The final evaluation will be carried out at the exhibition and the winners of each category will be awarded medals.
