Industrial Development Board Partners with DHL to Boost Export Awareness among MSMEs

In a significant move to empower Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and enhance their participation in global trade, the Industrial Development Board (IDB) has announced a strategic partnership with DHL. This collaboration aims to facilitate awareness on export procedures among MSMEs through an array of initiatives, including seminars, workshops, and the integration of advanced digital tools like DHL’s MyGTS webtool.

The partnership’s cornerstone is the shared commitment to fostering export literacy and simplifying the complexities of international trade for MSMEs. The initiative will focus on educating entrepreneurs about essential export procedures, documentation, and the regulatory landscape, thereby equipping them with the knowledge and tools necessary to compete in global markets.
Key Features of the Partnership
1. Awareness Programs and Workshops:
The IDB and DHL will jointly conduct a series of seminars and workshops tailored to address the specific challenges faced by MSMEs in export processes. These interactive sessions will cover topics such as documentation, compliance, market trends, and leveraging technology for seamless exports.
2. Integration of MyGTS Webtool:
MSMEs will gain access to DHL’s MyGTS (My Global Trade Services) webtool. Event Highlights
The partnership was formally launched at a dedicated event that brought together prominent representatives from both organizations. From the IDB, the occasion was graced by Mr. Ravi Nissanka, Chairman; Mr. Palitha Dikwalla, Director General; Ms. Renuka Jayalath, Director of the Entrepreneurship Development Division (EDD); and members of the IT Unit. Representing DHL were Mr. Rizly Zareem, Commercial Director, and Mr. Shamal Jayatissa, Account Manager.
During the event, Mr. Ravi Nissanka emphasized the importance of empowering MSMEs as critical drivers of economic growth. He stated, “This collaboration with DHL marks a pivotal step in our mission to enhance the export capabilities of MSMEs. By equipping them with the right knowledge and tools, we aim to unlock new growth opportunities for these enterprises on a global scale.”

Soon after the MoU signing, DHL contributed to the export procedures one day workshop organized by the IT Unit on 20th Dec. 2024.
